Rybak Pours 9 Cops Down the Drain

Contrary to the notion that Minneapolis is short on funds, R.T. and the City Council are spending $680,000 on fancy water fountains. That's the equivalent of about 9 cops for a year.

R.T. says, “I want that romance of water in a city of waters to be something that's just core to living in our city.” I guess if you live over by the lakes, romance is a top priority for City government.

The City’s call for artists to design the fountains states, “The vision of this project is to celebrate the role water has played in Minneapolis history and to foster a commitment to honoring and protecting water as fundamental to all life.” We need to protect the water more than we need to protect the lives it supports.

The goal is to increase sales of City water. Since safety evidently isn't so important, we’ll be helping R.T. achieve that goal by using more water to wash blood off the sidewalks.

WTF

This is a joke, I live over Northside, I went on vacation for a week. Had someone house sitting, ie living in the house. But someone noticed I was gone, my tool shed door was kicked in and my lawnmower stolen. So I had my house sitter call the police and report it. Three days later, the same someone I am assuming tried kicking in my garage door, however I installed a 1/4" steel plate bolted inside. So they were unsuccessful, but pointblank the city doesn't have money to waste on crap that will look nice for tourists. START BY KEEPING THE CITIZENS HERE THAT PAY TAXES SAFE.

Water Fountains

I just can't believe it. I keep clicking my heels together hoping to wake up to a city of common sense. How come no fountains for Toto at the dog parks.

I've volunteered my heart and soul for almost four full years fighting an onslaught of crime, and I've been told dozens of times there is no money for cops and other police needs. This is a slap in the face of every Mpls. resident that has been affected by crime...to the tune of over 10,000 crimes every 60 days in Mpls.

With all due respect, this really reminds me of a song from long ago:

(Mayor)
I could wile away the hours
Conferrin' with the flowers
Consultin' with the rain
And my head I'd be scratchin'
While my thoughts were busy hatchin'
If I only had a brain

I'd unravel any riddle
For any individ'le
In trouble or in pain

(Residents)
With the thoughts you'd be thinkin'
You could be another Lincoln
If you only had a brain

(Mayor)
Oh, I would tell you why
The ocean's near the shore
I could think of things I never thunk before
And then I'd sit and think some more

I would not be just a nuffin'
My head all full of stuffin'
My heart all full of pain
I would dance and be merry
Life would be a ding-a-derry
If I only had a brain
